To be eligible for induction consideration, the following prerequisites must be met.

(Posthumous nominations are accepted as well.)

 

1. Military Veteran - Anyone who has been honorably discharged or retired from service in the active or reserve component of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp or Coast Guard. Additionally, those who served in the Merchant Marines during the period of 7 December 1941 to 31 December 1946. *Posthumous nominations are accepted.

2. Honorable Service - The nominee must have no felony convictions and must possess a DD Form 214 (or equivalent if discharged prior to 1950) from the U.S. Military.

 

3. US  Military Veteran of Legal Citizenship - To be considered an eligible US Veteran for this honor, at least 1 of 2 requirements must be met: 

  1. Born in one of the 50 contiguous states of the United States of America, Puerto Rico or a U.S. territory

  2. Became a U.S. citizen legally and have served and received an honorable discharge 

4. Be of good character with no felony convictions

Categories for which they can be nominated:

VALOR - Actions in a combat or non-combat role that must be confirmed with valorous awards and decorations.

SERVICE - Based on voluntary service to mankind acts toward any one of the following: 1. Veterans 2. Needy 3. Youth.

The Service category may apply to former military, active duty/ reserve, or National Guard performance.

ACHIEVEMENT - An extraordinary accomplishment while on active duty, inactive duty or as a veteran after military service.

*Note: All Medal of Honor Recipients are automatically inducted, however a nomination packet must still be submitted as administrative records are kept. Up to 3 such inductions may occur within each class.
